Bertie Ahern unveils sculpture at the Irish
A new sculpture entitled ‘The Session’ was unveiled by An Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, T.D. at a ceremony in the Irish Village on Thursday January 18th. It is the first time the sculptor, Austin Quinn, a graduate of Crawford Art College in Cork, has been commissioned to create a permanent-sited sculpture overseas. The artist was approached by Gerard Kearney, General Manager of the Irish Village, to create the bronze sculpture of a “seisiún”, three life-sized musicians on the banjo, bodhrán and box.
